Dry Lips? Tis The Season

chappedlipsFor anyone out there suffering from extremely dry lips this ones for you…and me.

In midst of all the beautiful snow and extra large sweaters our bodies unfortunately have to adjust to the climate changes that leave our lips dry and eww…flaky.

Luckily there are many things we can do to protect our skin from drying out.

I will state the obvious first…HYDRATE!! Drink minimum 8 glasses of water a day NO EXCUSES!!!!!

Secondly you can fix the problem internally, by eating lots of healthy fats with omega’s to keep your body moisturized. My favourite “fatty” foods are avocados, olive oil, nuts and also putting omega fish oils in my protein shakes.

Thirdly MOISTURIZE…When I am eating a diet high in fat I can usually get away with not moisturizing my lips everyday, but in this weather I wouldn’t suggest trying that out. Make sure you never leave the house without a lip balm. Apply throughout the day to save those poor lips. I make my own lip balm consisting of Castor oil and Coconut oil. You can go to the dollar store and get travel containers to store it.

Last but NOT least Exfoliate and Treat. Exfoliating removes dead skin and leaves the lips feeling soft and kissable. My favourite lip exfoliator is coconut sugar and castor oil. Apply castor oil to a cotton pad(not ball) and sprinkle sugar on top. Use the pad and scrub lips in a circular motion. Rinse with warm water and apply castor oil to treat.

VOILA…Try out these tips and let me know if they’ve helped you :)
